Briefly explain what impact the following forces may impact upon a structure:
Wind- Causes movement of the bridge and friction, particularly at places where parts of the structure attaches to other parts. Eventually, this can weaken the structure. Wind can also cause erosion of surfaces over time.
Vibration- Many Bridges and buildings have collapsed due to the effects of vibration If a structure begins to vibrate in a violent manner, it's liable to fail mechanically and this can quickly lead to its total destruction.
Earthquake- Earthquakes comprimise bridges by weakening the steel structures that support them. Wjem an earthquake is strong enough it will cause a bridge to buckle and sway, this leads to its final collapse.
